Abstract : The state-of-the-art of nearfield hydrodynamic modeling has recently evolved to a point where the use of simple eddy viscosity/diffusivity closure models may no longer be satisfactory. In this report, a new and much improved method for addressing the turbulent transport mechanism in depth-integrated hydrodynamic models is presented. In addition, results of steady-state model simulations utilizing k-e closure are presented along with specific recommendations for future model improvement. (Author)
