Abstract : Progress in the investigation of fracto-emission (FE) from polymers is reported. Measurements characterizing the FE, experiments concerning FE mechanisms, and studies of factors influencing FE are discussed. This work includes: experimental evidence for and presentation of a conceptual model for the charged particle emission mechanisms, studies of electron and positive ion emission from the organic crystal sucrose and from single crystals of RDX. Also included is a review paper on FE from filled and unfilled elastomers. (Author)
