Abstract : The observed superconductivity in the stage 1 graphite-alkali metal intercalation compounds (GICs) is modeled using both graphite Pi-bands and intercalate s-bands. The anisotropy observed in the superconducting properties is explained in terms of the anisotropy of the Fermi surfaces of the GICs.
