Abstract : This final report describes results obtained during the course of a two-part basic research program addressing problems of airframe structural materials. Both areas of investigation concentrated on deformation of alpha-Beta titanium alloys. In Part I, superplasticity of two-phase titanium alloys was investigated, with the goal of improving the superplastic forming capabilities through alloy modifications. Part II of this program concentrated on understanding the early stages of fatigue crack initiation and propagation in titanium alloys.
