Abstract : The average SARs for live rats exposed in 2450-MHz circularly polarized waveguides were estimated from the total system loss measured by five power meters and by the use of a correction factor representing the ratio between actual SAR (measured by twin-well calorimetry) and apparent SAR (measured by power meters) for various body masses and five orientations. In the waveguides, the average SAR changed less than threefold when the rats grew from 200 to 700 g and when they moved around in the cage. The ratio of peak of average SAR in the body of the rats was less than 3. These results indicate uniform energy disposition in rats exposed in the circular waveguide. (Author)
