Abstract : The purpose of this study was to describe the relationship between the occurrance of arousal and episodes of oxygen desaturation in COPD patients. A descriptive design was used in which the variables of interest, i.e., arousals and episodes fo desaturation were measured simultaneously during sleep. The odds of these two events occurring at the same time, i.e., within the same 15 seconds epoch was then calculated using the odds ratio.
