Abstract : Laboratory work is reported on (1) further investigation into the osmotic activity of water in the presence of several oxygen-containing polymers; (2) further investigation into the molecular mechanism involved in the swelling of frog muscle induced by isotonic KC1; and (3) further investigation into the relationship between swelling, salt ions, and ATP in cold-injured tissues.
