Abstract : This report summarizes a study of the acoustical characteristics of a closed loop duct system for pulsed lasers with emphasis on acoustic suppression technology. Several topics are considered involving wave propagation reflection and attenuation in a shock tube, in which pulse waves are generated, simulating those in a pulsed laser system. A detailed analysis of the design of parallel-baffle attenuators for suppression of acoustic waves is given, allowing for the contributions of the reflection transmitted and reverberant contributions to the sound pressure field in the optical cavity.
