Abstract : The thermal decomposition of acetylene (C2H2) on palladium (100) and (111) surfaces in the temperature range 300-500K has been monitored with high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS). Vibrational analysis indicates predominant formation of rather stable CCH species on both surfaces.
