Abstract : Both a coherent and incoherent target filter are compared on an output signal-to-noise power ratio basis. Three spread spectrum waveforms are tested: intrapulse biphase coded, interpulse frequency hopped, and interpulse frequency hopped with subpulse chirp. In all three cases, the incoherent target filter provided superior output power. Typical incoherent/coherent signal power ratios were 1-3 dB, 0.75 dB, and 0.18 dB for the phase coded, FM, and FM with subpulse chirp respectively. (Author)
