Abstract : This report describes the theoretical basis for the elastic three-dimensional raytracing program DYNARAY. Assumptions and model restrictions are discussed, and several methods for computation of travel times and amplitudes are presented. Results of modeling studies of ground motion for a realistic basin structure are also presented. These studies indicate that relatively strong amplification effects can occur, at points dependent upon both basin geometry and source location. (Author)
