Abstract : This thesis demonstrates a methodology to be used by a Program Manager to allow him to procedurally monitor the design development of an embedded weapons system. The methodology consists of a unique combination of several software engineering strategies integrated to form a powerful management tool. The primary objective of the methodology is to provide an algorithmic procedure which stresses simplicity at all levels of abstraction. Further, the system must be capable of generating good system specifications, good documentation, and fully understandable products. Sample products from the implementation of the methodology on the HARPOON Shipboard Command-Launch Control Set (HSCLCS) are provided for illustrative purposes. (Author)
