Abstract : The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has sponsored a basic materials research and development program in advanced materials technology in which System Planning Corporation (SPC) has participated as a subcontractor to Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. This document presents a final task report on gasless combustion synthesis technology. Combustion synthesis processes and theory are investigated. Soviet processing patents in four countries are described and assessed. SPC analytical combustion models are presented. Suggestions are made in regard to future synthesis experiments in the laboratory. (Author)
