Abstract : The initial objectives of this effort included development of the appropriate understanding (and demonstration of the feasibility) of being able to produce high energy product SmCo5 magnets with (1) high flux stability, (2) adequate temperature compensation, and (3) coefficient of thermal expansion matched closely to that of beryllium. The first objective was the most difficult to achieve and required the most effort. The third proved to be the least problematic.
