Abstract : The major factors which determine the shape and size of a hydrograph are presented to set the stage of the infiltration process. The HEC-1 methodology for representing that infiltration process is described. Modelers are cautioned not to over emphasize one aspect of the runoff process at the expense of the components before and after it. Finally, the spatial and temporal definition of the runoff process by the models was discussed.
