Abstract : An analysis and associated computational technique were developed to measure rocket thrust using Doppler radar velocity trajectory data from rocket- assisted projectile firings. This technique was inserted into the ARDC standard six-degree-of-freedom flight simulation program, TRAJ5. During data reduction, the actual Doppler velocity from radar data is compared to the value predicted by the simulation. If they disagree, the thrust is adjusted until agreement occurs. The technique automatically determines rocket motor ignition and burnout times. The estimate of the specific impulse is also corrected. This method can also be used to estimate corrections to the drag coefficient of a projectile.
