Abstract : A consistent penalty Galerkin finite element algorithm for nonhydrostatic, small scale atmospheric flows over complex terrain. The implementation of aq quasi Newton and an appropriate factorization techniques is discussed. Finally, the implementation of an adaptive mesh technique suitable for front tracking encountered, for example, in certain free and/or moving boundary problems is discussed.
