Abstract : Studies were conducted on the fundamental gas-surface scattering processes. Significant advances were made in understanding inelastic scattering processes when a diatomic molecule strikes a well-defined single-crystal surface in an ultra high vacuum environment or when atoms permeate through a metal and recombinatively desorb.
