Abstract : The U.S. Army Defense Ammunition Center and School (USADACS) has been tasked by U.S. Army Armament, Munitions and Chemical Command (AMCCOM), SMCAR-ESK, Rock Island, IL to investigate various, less costly methods of unitizing ammunition loads. This test is an evaluation of the Functional Pallet Systems, Inc. of Grand Rapids, MI 40x48-inch plastic pallet and its suitability of transporting ammunition. The evaluation of this pallet is based on MIL-STD-1660, Design Criteria for Ammunition Unit Loads dated 8 April 1977. The loaded unitization was subjected to compression and transportation simulation tests. The pallet skids disintegrated during the transportation simulation portion of the test.
