Abstract : Campaign logistics is a new concept which requires thoughtful analysis and informed discussion. The different meaning of some current terminology and the lack of common doctrinal language for the maneuver commander and logistician means that they often cannot understand each other. Establishing a common understanding of campaign logistics and how it contributes to the maneuver campaign can be gained from correctly and thoroughly reading military history. There are numerous historical examples which highlight the fact that logistics determine the outcome of the campaign before the first engagement. Some of the more critical conditions that affect support for future campaigns include: increased reliance on Reserve Components, increased technocracy, reduced support structure force, increased tonnages to be moved, operations in unimproved areas, and diversion of logistics units to conduct rear battle operations. Keywords: U.S. Grant, Golan Heights; Falkland Islands.
