Abstract : Seven nucleoside 2', 3' -dialdehydes were synthesized by periodic oxidation of inosine, 6-methylmercaptopurine riboside, thymine riboside, guanosine, 5'-fluoro-5'deoxyadenosine, 8-bromoadenosine, and N6, N6-dimethylaminopurine riboside, respectively. The resultant nucleoside dialdehydes, as well as the intermediate 5'-fluoro-5'deoxyadenosine, were submitted to the USAMRIID antiviral screening program. Keywords: Antiviral agents.
