Abstract : A feasibility was conducted on two keyboard concepts: the cluster switch keyboard and the position selection keyboard. They were studied by evaluating time and error data collected from 20 subjects. These subjects entered 10 strings of 10 characters on both keyboards. The results indicate that the subjects' performances were faster on the position selection keyboard, but more accurate on the cluster switch keyboard. Further study on the cluster switch keyboard concept is suggested. Keywords include: Position selection, Cluster switch, Computer keyboard, Communication, Hand-held keyboard, Human keyboard, and Data entry.
