Abstract : When a Kekule structure is transformed into the subspace of its double bonds a factor of graph results. A function called degenerate transformation is defined on the set of factor graphs of a benzenoid system which was demonstrated to be an equivalence relation. For nonbranched catacondensed allbenzenoid, NBCCAB, hydrocarbons, this relation is shown to preserve the Fibonaccitype recursion of the number of their Kekule structures.
