Abstract : Alternative technologies and alternative strategies for dredging, transport, and disposal of contaminated dredged material are reviewed. Contaminant control/treatment during three basic operations are discussed. These include contaminant control/treatment during dredging, contaminant control/treatment during material transport, and contaminant control/treatment during disposal operations. Many technologies have been developed for control/treatment of contaminated media. These technologies have the potential for application to a contaminated dredged material handling operation. Such technologies are identified in this report. Technologies are separated into proven, demonstrated, demonstrable, and conceptual categories.
