Abstract : The mean square magnetic vector potential is not invariant in ideal, two dimensional, compressible, magnetohydrodynamic turbulence. A new, related invariant for the compressible case is given. The results are demonstrated by numerical simulation. In the compressible case large amplitude fluctuations in the mean square magnetic vector potential are observed.
