Abstract : This report details the work of the Plasma Radiation Branch conducted in FY 86 with respect to several critical problems concerning the design of Z pinch implosions and the optimization of their radiative output. Separate sections describe progress in atomic modeling of K shell copper radiation, radiation hydrodynamics, argon implosions, design of anti-zippering nozzles, and analyses of anomalous resistivity and plasma opening switches.
