Abstract : In order to assess the effect of a magnetic mine case on a magnetic sensor in or near the case, some 2D magnetostatic calculations have been performed using the boundary element method. For the case of a cylindrical tube the analytic solution to the problem is presented allowing the analytic and numerical solutions to be compared. Conclusions are drawn about the likely effect of a ferromagnetic case on a sensor in or near the case.
