Abstract : The diffraction of a plane electromagnetic wave by a thin dielectric wedge is studied using a set of approximate boundary conditions together with the Wiener-Hopf technique. An integral expression for the scattered field is derived and the diffracted far field obtained by application of the method of steepest descents. The associated GTD diffraction coefficients are exact to order O(A2) where 2A is the (small) wedge angle. The results are useful for wedges for which ln2--1 l A 1, where n is the refractive index of the dielectric relative to that of the surrounding medium. (Author)
