Abstract : With the rapid growth in Central Sterilization Room (CSR) Services, there has been an increase emphasis on the organization and management of the CSR. While the initial emphasis was placed on cost savings and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals standards, there is an increasing emphasis on management control and accountability within the CSR. This paper examines a CSR operation within a Naval Regional Medical Center, evaluates the current system and develops alternatives for improving management control and accountability.
