Abstract : The research reported here is concerned with the relationships between interface characteristics and mechanical properties of metal matrix composites. Because composite interfaces are, in general, complex non-equilibrium structures, this research has emphasized the use of simplified, model specimens and direct characterization techniques to extract a range of information from the interfaces themselves.
