Abstract : NEDU conducted an evaluation of the Tekna DV-3X and MIL-UNIT MOD S-5100. Static battery duration tests, open water/time distance trials, battery offgassing tests, and unmanned pressure tests were conducted. Both models were found to provide acceptable performance to a maximum depth of 130 FSW and are recommended for Authorized for Navy use (ANU) status. Approximate run times and speeds on propeller pitch setting 9 was one hour at 1.6 knots. Reducing the propeller pitch setting will provide longer run times, longer distances, and reduced speeds.
