Abstract : The purpose of this study was to assess the feasibility of using a decision making tool to consider alternatives in terms of publicly stated doctrine. The first section examines the potential difficulties in using U.S. Air Force Logistics Doctrine to assist in making decisions. This is accomplished through a review of current doctrine based on its evolution. The second section examines several decision tools which are (or could be) in use. Advantages and disadvantages of both quantitive and qualitative frameworks are discussed. The final element of this thesis is the synthesis of a conceptual framework of a logistics decision support system, using specific models to consider the relative merit of alternatives based on the principles of U.S. Air Force Logistics Doctrine. Keywords: Variables; Efficiency analysis; Theses.
