Abstract : This study evaluates the effectiveness of procedures used to select eligible applicants for the Airman Education and Commissioning Program (AECP). Predictors used by AFIT, as well as several new potentially effective predictors were evaluated using a standard criteria-related validity paradigm. These predictor variables are: AFOQT test composite scores, completed college credits, and undergraduate grade point average. Using a sample of 802 cases, from a period of 1979 to 1984, predictor/criteria relationships were demonstrated for the AECP. Prediction models were developed using r-square and Cp analysis. These models were evaluated as to their applicability to current selection procedures. Validity information, correlation matrices, and a prediction model are presented.
