Abstract : Theories of the mechanical, vibrational, and electronic properties of III-V semiconductors have been developed and applied to (i) help determine the feasibility of InN-based visible and ultraviolet lasers and light detectors, (ii) develop a theory of phonons in semiconductor alloys, (iii) elaborate on the physics of photoelasticity, (iv) understand surface reconstruction of semiconductors, and (v) predict the effects of atomic correlations on the light-scattering (Raman) properties of semiconductor alloys.
