Abstract : The performance parameters proposed by Soland et al. were used to perform a comparison of the Kays and London plate - finned surfaces for heat exchangers constructed from stainless steel, mild steel, aluminum, and cooper. Three additional comparison criteria were also investigated by modifying the proposed parameters. When using stainless steel, the louvered plate - finned surface 1/4 (b) 0 11.1, is the best, but when using mild steel, aluminum, or copper, the wavy - fin plate - finned surface 17.8 - 3/8w is the best of those considered.
