Abstract : Surface waves and leaky waves are mechanisms through which elements of microstrip phased arrays can couple, potentially causing blind spots in the desired field of view. This report summarizes results of a project whose objective was to verify existing theories predicting blind spot locations. It summarizes the method of solving for blindness angles, the method of measuring scan impedance, and the results of measurements of a microstrip array on a high dielectric constant material.
