Abstract : A method has been developed to quantitatively determine the commutation angle and load response for a continuous-current, single-phase controlled rectifier. An analytical model was developed and solved numerically. The results, in the form of load current plots, predict the commutation time and the shape and magnitude of the response. The underlying assumptions used in the development of the model, the limitations of the model, and the interpretation of the results are discussed.
