Abstract : Members of the United States Air Force are subject to criminal prosecution in a court-martial for offenses they may commit during combat. The paper lists the provisions under the Uniform Code of Military Justice and the four Geneva Conventions of 1949 which describe potential criminal conduct and the maximum penalties. The paper also addresses the basic reasons for developing and adhering to the body of law referred to as the Law of Armed Conflict.
