Abstract : The design of a parallel programming environment specialized to systolic computation is proposed. The system, called Hearts, is a dialect of the Poker parallel programming environment. The key feature of Hearts that enables it to be a convenient and efficacious facility for writing systolic programs is a novel concept of program that is graphical rather than textual. The use of this program form is illustrated in a full example of the Kung-Leiserson matrix product algorithm.
