Abstract : A computer-controlled data collection system was designed and implemented to analyze finite amplitude acoustic standing waves in a rectangular air-filled cavity with linear and wedge-shaped boundary perturbations. The response of a nonlinear standing wave in perturbed and unperturbed cavities was studied. The experimental results showed that the computer-obtained data was in qualitative agreement with that previously obtained by manual procedures. Quantitative comparisons with theory could not be made because the properties of the cavity did not match those for which theoretical predictions are available.
