Abstract : The study evaluates the influences of historic U.S. interests, as well as U.S. and Honduran political, economic, and military considerations that may have affected the sale of the F-5 fighter aircraft to Honduras. Additionally, the effect of the sale on regional stability is examined. The study concludes that the sale of the F-5, affected by many variables, is a stabilizing factor in the region, and necessary if the U.S. is to achieve its foreign policy goals without becoming actively involved militarily.
