Abstract : The Air National Guard accepted the second echelon medical mission in 1984. This added Continuing Medical Readiness (CMR) training and the Survivable COllective Protection System-Medical (SCPS-M) facility as the working environment during war. This study evaluates how the ANG medical units will obtain the necessary training with the limited time available. The study concludes the Office of the Air Surgeon, National Guard Bureau should take action to make changes in policy to allow more time for CMR training, obtain a SCPS-M facility, and develop a medical readiness training site. This will provide the units with means to accomplish training for the second echelon medical mission.
