Abstract : This period of research concentrated in the following areas: (1) The development and testing of a reflection-compensating radiometer. (2) A theoretical investigation of the variation of microwave penetration depth in human tissue as a function of the aperture size of the contract antenna. (3) Antenna design to give improved penetration depth. (4) A study of the utility of bistatic measurements to detect embedded tumors and aid microwave thermography and hyperthermia.
