Abstract : This report analyzes John Lewis Gaddis' 1972 book, The United States and the Origins of the Cold War, 1941-1947, seeking to validate the accuracy of Gaddis' historical analysis. This analysis presents the origins of the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union by using different Historians' interpretations of particular key events between 1941 and 1947. The author recommends the book as an accurate and readable presentation of internal and external limitations placed on elected officials during the policy formation process.
