Abstract : The Air Force is becoming more computer-oriented each year and one of the areas of increasing computer use is education and training. Interactive videodisc instruction is a relatively new technology that offers great potential as a training medium. Air Command and Staff College is continually trying to improve the presentation of its curriculum. The objective of this paper is to see if interactive videodisc technology can be constructively applied to the ACSC curriculum. The paper explores the mechanics of videodisc operation, the concepts of interactive education and the benefits of the combination of the two. Next, the paper details the hardware and software necessary to produce and present interactive instruction and what hardware and software is currently available to the Air Force. The paper concludes that interactive videodisc instruction could enhance curriculum presentation at ACSC.
