Abstract : These experiments were designed to determine whether oximes can induce reactivation of inhibited blood AChE in animals given organophosphinates (phosphinates). The questions addressed were (1) whether oximes can reactivate phosphinate-inhibited guinea pig AChE in vivo and in vitro, (2) which oxime and concentration is most effective in restoring AChE activity, (3) nature of the profiles of AChE inhibition by phosphinates in vivo, and (4) evaluation of the effectiveness of atropine + oximes against phosphinate-induced lethality.
