Abstract : The main aim of the project was to develop a set of partial differential equations which are the most optimum for the generation of grid lines in arbitrary surfaces. Equations have been developed on the basis of differentialgeometric concepts which are elliptic in character and look to be the most optimum among the class of equations which can be used to generate the surface coordinates. The developed equations require a specification of the forcing function which depends on the geometry of the given surface. The surface in which the coordinates are to be introduced is usually given in discrete data form. Methods have been developed which fit a function over the given data to evaluate the forcing function for complicated shapes, e.g., an airplane, the functional fit and the eventual grid generation for the fuselage and wings are done separately and then integrated to obtain the grid lines on the surface.
