Abstract : The response of a coupled structure-equipment system subjected to a projectile impact is analyzed. The system consists of a simply supported plate coupled to damped oscillators. The analysis follows classical modal methods in which the mode shapes are expressed in terms of the Green's function of the system. The Green's function for the plate with homogeneous boundary conditions is obtained by Laplace transformation method arid using a symbolic mathematics program such as MACSYMA. Using an example problem of a single attached oscillator, it Is shown that all parameters of the secondary system contribute to the interaction between the plate and the oscillator. structure-equipment system; dynamic response; numerical analysis; finite element analysis; projectile impact; dynamic loads; impact load.
