Abstract : This report provides the results of a study to explore what efforts are being taken to minimize construction worker/equipment contact with overhead power lines located in the vicinity of construction projects. Three different sample groups were studied: contractors, utilities, and municipalities. Questionnaires were sent to each sample group and the responses were analyzed separately for each group. Some of the results of this study include common precautions practiced by contractors, actions taken most often by utilities, and requirements that municipalities include in their contract documents to provide worker/equipment protection from contact with overhead power lines.
