Abstract : This study explores several different image quality metrics currently employed by the visual display community in the context of color CRT display technology. The specific techniques included in the study are the Modulation Transfer Function, the Contrast Threshold/Sensitivity Function, the Modulation Transfer Function Area, the Integrated Contrast Sensitivity metric, and the Square-Root Integral metric. These metrics include and are based on visual psychometric data and suggest that operator performance may be predicted from the objective, image quality data.
